Raagmala travels to Chennai.

The full collection leaves Jubilee Hills for three days in a hotel ballroom on Anna Salai. Private viewing rooms, our own craftsmen present, and pieces that will not be shown outside Hyderabad again this year.

Every stone in Raagmala is uncut. Nothing is faceted by machine, and no two pieces in the collection carry the same stone.

Why jadau takes eleven months.

Jadau is not a setting technique so much as a discipline. The gold is warmed until it is soft enough to hold a stone without a claw, and the stone is pushed home by hand.

Uncut, not unpolished
Polki is a diamond in its natural crystal form. It is cleaved and polished on its existing faces, never cut to a formula. That is why it glows rather than sparkles.
No claws, no glue
The stone is held by pure gold pressed around it. The setting is the metal itself, which is why jadau pieces survive being reset by three generations.
Meena on the reverse
The back of every ceremonial piece is enamelled by hand, in colours nobody but the wearer will see.
